Starting a game project… what do you need?

Trophy Unlocked! Documents mentioned in this section:Max Squirrel

  1. NDA: Non-Disclosure Agreement. This is not a CONTRACT, but is an agreement that indicates that you will not copy someone else ideas or that someone else ideas will not be copied by you. It is pretty straight forward practice in the industry. Nobody would talk to you about a game without this being signed. Well, not in details. We have signed quite a few, even between ourselves.
  2. Executive Summary: 1 page that indicates all the key points on your game using bullet points (remember the elevator person interested in your game, this is it!). Why is unique? and a lot of more Why’s? to be solved here.
  3. GDD:Game Design Document. This will have the details of your game, like main idea, market, platform, enemies, etc. You will provide this only to your final team or sell it to your publisher/game studio. Do not share it freely unless you are developing an open source game 🙂
